🛕 Overview of the 108 Divya Desams
The 108 Divya Desams are the most sacred Vishnu temples glorified in the Naalayira Divya Prabandham, the collection of 4,000 Tamil hymns sung by the 12 Azhwars (Vaishnava poet-saints) between the 6th and 9th centuries CE. These temples are revered in Sri Vaishnavism, one of the major traditions within Hinduism focused on the worship of Lord Vishnu and his avatars, primarily Rama and Krishna.

They are tightly integrated into the theology, philosophy, and tradition of Sri Ramanuja’s Vishishtadvaita school.
🧭 How to Explore Them
Most temples are concentrated in Tamil Nadu, making it feasible to plan spiritual circuits (e.g., Chozha Nadu trail, Pandya Nadu trail). Others require wider travel – Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, North India, and even symbolic or spiritual journeys for the celestial abodes.
