Tanjai Maamanikkoyil is a unique Divya Desam composed of three sacred temples located within 200 meters of each other in the outskirts of Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. Though spread across different spots, these shrines are revered collectively as one Divya Desam, praised by Tirumangai Azhwar, Bhootath Azhwar, and Nammazhwar. Each temple offers a distinct divine experience with Lord Vishnu in seated posture, worshipped by ancient sages and adorned with deep mythological significance.

📜 Sthala Puranam (Temple Legend)
The sacred lore of this Divya Desam speaks of a demon named Tanjakan, who was vanquished by Lord Vishnu in His Narasimha avatar. The demon, in the form of an elephant, surrendered at the Lord’s feet in repentance. Moved by this act, the Lord granted him moksha and chose to reside at this holy site. Thus, the land came to be known as Thanjavur, forever linked to this tale of transformation and divine compassion.

This cluster of temples has been glorified in the Naalayira Divya Prabandham by:
