Tiru Evvullur, commonly known as Tiruvallur, is a sacred Divya Desam located on the Chennai-Arakonam railway line. This temple is renowned for its divine lore and unique depiction of Lord Vishnu, attracting countless devotees seeking blessings and healing.

Sacred Legend
Legend states that Lord Vishnu revealed the sacred Vedas to Brahma at this holy shrine. Another popular tale narrates that the Lord, disguised as an old man, sought food and shelter from Salihotra Munivar. Upon being directed to the Munivar’s hut, the Lord took refuge by covering Himself with tree bark, a gesture reflected in the deity’s attire even today.
The next morning, the sage realized his divine guest and prayed for Him to stay permanently at this place. Thus, the deity is traditionally decorated with bark-like clothing, symbolizing this divine event.
The temple is under the administration of the Ahobila Mutt and includes shrines dedicated to Andal, Nammalwar, Ramanujar, Vedantha Desikar, and a separate sanctum for Lakshmi Narasimhar.
