Sacred Legends & Spiritual Importance
The temple is said to have been built by Sahadeva, the youngest of the Pandava brothers, symbolizing its deep-rooted connection to the epic Mahabharata. Another fascinating legend involves King Rukmangatha of the Surya Vamsa dynasty, who undertook the Ekadasi vratham here. He generously gifted all his punya (spiritual merit) to the Devas, enabling them to ascend to Devaloka, the celestial abode.
A unique and intriguing tale surrounds a temple servant who, due to delaying the opening of the temple doors and thus preventing devotees from having timely darshan of the Lord, was cursed by the presiding deity to be turned into stone. This statue of the servant still stands in front of the temple, a poignant reminder of devotion and discipline.
