Lalithambigai Temple, Thirumeyachur – The Abode of Sri Chakra & Divine Feminine Power

Lalithambigai Temple, Thirumeyachur is one of the most powerful and spiritually significant Shakti temples in Tamil Nadu, located in Thirumeyachur, near Mayiladuthurai. This sacred shrine is uniquely dedicated to Goddess Lalithambigai, worshipped here in the supreme form of Sri Chakra (Sri Yantra)—a rare and highly revered representation of Divine Mother.

History & Spiritual Importance

Thirumeyachur holds a special place in Shakta and Shaiva traditions. According to legend, Lord Shiva manifested here to relieve Goddess Parvati of fatigue after she destroyed the demon Bhandasura. The Goddess rested here and is worshipped as Lalithambigai, the embodiment of beauty, compassion, wisdom, and supreme power.

This temple is also closely associated with the sacred text Lalitha Sahasranamam, and devotees believe that sincere prayers here bring mental peace, marital harmony, spiritual upliftment, and removal of negative energies.
