This system will be active from April 1, 2025, to June 30, 2025, and is designed to manage the inflow of tourists while preserving the ecological balance of this serene hill district.

The Nilgiris, with its lush green landscapes, tea estates, and cool climate, is one of the most visited summer destinations in South India. To ensure visitor safety, avoid overcrowding, and protect the environment, authorities have introduced a vehicle cap and made advance E-Pass registration mandatory.
🚦 Vehicle Limits
To regulate traffic effectively, the administration has set daily limits on the number of vehicles allowed into the Nilgiris:
- Weekdays: 6,000 vehicles
- Weekends: 8,000 vehicles
This ensures a smoother travel experience for all and helps in minimizing pollution and traffic congestion.

Certain categories of vehicles are exempted from this E-Pass requirement:

- Government buses
