Divya Desam 15 of 108 | Region: Chozhanadu
Located 15 km south of Kumbakonam and 4 km from Kodavasal, Tirucherai (also called Saarakshetram) is where Lord Vishnu as Saranathan is believed to have saved the Vedas during the Pralaya.

- Thayar: Saranayaki
- Theertham: Sara Pushkarini
- Vimanam: Sara Vimanam
Sacred Legends:
When the universe faced Pralaya, Brahma was unable to preserve the Vedas with any pot he made. Lord Vishnu directed him to Tirucherai, where he created a divine pot using the mud from the banks of the Kaveri—thus safeguarding the Vedas.
On Thai Poosam, Lord Saranathan gives darshan with five consorts: Sri Devi, Bhoo Devi, Neela Devi, Maha Lakshmi, and Saranayaki, a unique occurrence in any Divya Desam.
It is believed that a holy dip in Sara Pushkarini and darshan here will absolve devotees of all sins.
Azhwar Mangalaasaasanam:
- Tirumangai Azhwar – Pasurams: 1578–1587, 1853, 2673 (72), 2674 (115)
The temple features two prakarams, a 90-ft Rajagopuram, and shrines for Rajagopalaswami with Rukmini and Satyabhama. Anjaneya and Ganapathy are also seen blessing from either side of the Pushkarini.
