Tirunindravur is an important Divya Desam situated approximately 25 kilometers from Chennai, along the Chennai-Tiruvallur railway line. This temple is revered for its divine associations and unique legends, making it a cherished pilgrimage spot in the Vaishnavite tradition.

The temple also features a shrine dedicated to Lord Rama located on the banks of the Varuna Pushkarini tank.
Sacred Legend
According to legend, Varuna, the lord of waters (Samudraraja), worshipped Lord Vishnu at this sacred place. It is believed that the Lord, accompanied by Goddess Lakshmi, made this location His divine abode, giving rise to the name Tirunindravur, meaning “the place where the Lord stood.”
Interestingly, it is said that Tirumangai Azhwar once left this temple without singing a pasuram (divine hymn). The Lord followed the Azhwar to Mamallapuram, where Tirumangai Azhwar then composed the pasuram referring to this sacred shrine.
