  • Rudra Yagna and Vishnu’s Eleven Forms: According to ancient lore, Lord Shiva performed the Ekadasa Rudra Aswamedha Yagna at Tirunangur to absolve the sin of Brahmahati (killing of Brahma). Pleased by Shiva’s penance, Lord Vishnu manifested before him accompanied by Sri Devi, Bhu Devi, and Nila Devi.

Upon Shiva’s humble request, Vishnu agreed to remain in 11 different forms across Tirunangur — forming the sacred 11 Divya Desams revered especially during the Thai month festival.
